The Booneville Seventh Grade Bearcats rolled over Mansfield 30-18 at Bearcat Stadium for their fifth straight win, and third in an eight day period.
The Bearcats (5-1) built a 14-0 lead on their first two possessions with the first lasting a single Cooper Smithson carry that covered 70 yards.
Smithson would carry just four times on the night, but gained 149 yards and would score three times.
Trevor Swain added a two point conversion then made three straight tackles pushed Mansfield back 21 yards on their initial possession.
The Bearcats took just three plays to score again with Edwin Garcia rumbling 24 yards for the touchdown.
Mansfield had two more negative yardage plays then got a 75-yard carry to cut the deficit to 14-6.
Smithson started the ensuing possession with a 17-yard reception from Drake Brackney and would have an 11-yard run on the next play.
He capped the 70-yard drive with a 9-yard run and Brackney added a two-point conversion for a 22-6 lead.
The Bearcats got the ball back but a late interception kept it a two score game.
Smithson went 59 yards with his first carry of the second half and with Brackney’s second extra two it was 30-6.
Mansfield scored on a 65-yard run midway through the second half but Reese Abshire stopped a two-point conversion and the Tigers scored again on the final play of the game.
The Bearcats will close out the home portion of their season when they host Charleston next Thursday. Game time is 5:30.
