The Booneville Junior High Bearcats led 14-0 after a pair of Brody Chambers touchdown runs then forced three straight turnovers and scored after each to go up 38-0 on the way to a 38-6 win over Mansfield Thursday night.

Two of the turnovers came in the form of Tayden Washburn interceptions.

Mansfield and head coach Whit Overton, who was the Junior High Bearcats head coach last season, won the toss and deferred until the second half.

The Bearcats (4-2) opened the game with a methodical 12-play drive to a 1-yard Chambers touchdown. Hayden Daniel ran for a two-point conversion to make it 8-0.

The touchdown came on the 11th carry of the night for the fullback. He went on to carry 20 times for 78 yards in the game.

After a Tiger punt the Bearcats drove 59 yards to a 2-yard scoring run and a 14-0 lead.

Mansfield then mounted a short drive, aided by two offside penalties, to reach Bearcat territory but Washburn picked off a pass and returned it 66 yards for a touchdown and a 22-0 lead once Daniel ran for another extra two.

Silas Miller slapped down a pitch then recovered the loose football at the Tiger 33-yard line to give the Bearcats a chance to do further damage before halftime.

Daniel scored from the 10 three plays later and Chambers got the two–point carry for a 30-0 halftime lead.

Daniel ran for 52 yards on five carries.

Mansfield managed a couple of first downs to start the second half but Washburn’s second interception on a ball thrown with Avery Reno dragging down the Tiger quarterback.

The Bearcats kept the ball the rest of the third quarter then punched in another score on a 7-yard run by Rylie Swint. It was 38-0 with 6:38 to play after Chambers again added the extra two.

With leading tacklers Braxton Hubble and Laython Shaffer done for the night Mansfield avoided a shutout with 3:32 to go.

The Bearcats will play their final home game of the season Thursday when they host Charleston.
