The Booneville Seventh Grade Bearcats scored on both of their first half offensive possessions, and on one of their two first half interceptions in Lavaca Thursday.

Winning their seventh straight the Bearcats (7-1) led 22-0 at the half and would win by the same score.

Lavaca used a penalty for a first down on their first possession but eventually opted for a 30-yard markup for a punt.

The Bearcats went 74 yards on their first possession and led 6-0 on a 1-yard run by Cooper Smithson (shown), who ran for 66 yards to lead the Bearcats.

Toby Weaver and Smithson both broke up passes on the next two Lavaca plays but Smithson tipped his back to himself for and interception and returned it 41 yards for a touchdown.

Edwin Garcia added the two-point conversion for a 14-0 lead.

The next drive belonged to Drake Brackney who had a pair of completions to Garcia and Trevor Swaim go for 22 yards then before Brackney kept the ball for a 35-yard touchdown run.

Garcia again added the two point conversion and it was 22-0.

Garcia would also intercept a pass on the final play of the half.

The Bearcats drove to the Lavaca 13 to start the second half but also suffered an interception.

Ascher Penny looked to have done more damage for the Bearcats but a penalty wiped out a 34-yard scoring run and the Bearcats would turn the ball over on downs.

However the second half would end as the first had, with the Bearcats causing a turnover, this one a fumble recovered by Jayden Walker.

The Bearcats will close out the season at Cedarville on Thursday. Game time is 5:30 p.m.
