The announcement of the state championship game MVP drew applause though the announcement was much more of a formality than a surprise.

After all Dax Goff had just closed his high school career by logging 31 carries for 245 yards and three touchdowns in the Bearcats 25-22 title win over Prescott.

Goff scored the first time he carried the ball and picked up a first down that allowed the Bearcats to get into victory formation the last time it was called.

In between those he also scored on runs of 13 and 73 yards.

All three scoring runs came with the Bearcats behind the sticks. It was second-and-12 on the 31-yard run that made it 6-0 and after earning a first down at the Prescott 8 it was first and goal from the 13 when Goff went in from 13 yards to make it 12-0.

But the third one was the most impressive. Prescott had pulled within 18-15 and it was second-and-16 from the Bearcat 27 when Goff went 73 for a two score lead.

Before it ended he also converted a third-and-5 with a 36-yard run and, in the first half, had turned third-and-16 into a first down in the second quarter.
