BASKETBALL SEASON TO RESUME BASKETBALL SEASON TUESDAY

The original 2023-2024 basketball schedule calls for the Bearcats, Lady Bearcats and the JV Bearcats to be in action tonight at Hackett but that game has been rescheduled for January 18 with a first tip at 5:30 p.m.

Tuesday’s home games with Cedarville at Bearcat Gym were also postponed and have been rescheduled for January 6, starting at 5 p.m.

That means the Bearcats next game will be on Tuesday at conference opponent Charleston.

Playing with a roster of only seven players while football season was still in progress, the Bearcats are off to a 5-3 start.

Cody Sum has been the scoring leader at 13.6 per game and is also the leading rebounder with 7.5 per game and has blocked an average of two shots a night.

Noah Harrel is also averaging a double digit game at 11.4. Nate Smith has averaged 9.9 and Aiden Carter has contributed 7.4. Wesley Fonseca has also posted consecutive 10 point games.

Joining the team since football wrapped up a state title season will be Colter Fisher, Dax Goff, Jace Washburn, Dakota Mattson, Damari Poole, and Conner Droemer.

The Lady Bearcats will enter conference play 3-5 and are led by Lexi Franklin’s 14.8 and Linley Garrett’s 12.4 points per game.

The duo are also the leading rebounders with Lexi grabbing 6.9 and Garrett 6.5.

Tempi Terry is third in both categories after a three game stretch in which she scored 34 points and pulled down 22 rebounds.

Franklin also leads in both seals and assists with Angie Brown second in seals and Baylee Parnell second in steals.
