The Lady Bearcats evened their conference record at 6-6 an won for the 10th time this season, beating Danville 51-32 Tuesday night at Bearcat Gym.
There was little doubt after the lady Bearcats scored the first 11 points of the game and led 16-5 after a quarter.
Accounting for 10 points and five rebounds, Tempi Terry (shown) was dominant in the opening quarter. She scored once in the second quarter and finished the night with 12 points. She also finished with 11 rebounds.
Lexi Franklin had contributed the remaining six first quarter points and would finish with 19 points and nine rebounds.
Franklin had 10 by halftime when it was already a blowout with the Lady Bearcats up 29-9.
Franklin scored seven in the third quarter as the lead continued to swell, eventually reaching 30 on a 3 by JJ Keatts.
It was 43-17 going to the fourth quarter and, although Danville would work the lead into the mid-teens, the Lady Bearcats got a couple of baskets from Anna Ferguson, the second on a steal and runout assist by Harley Fitzjurls to push it back to 19.
With the win the Lady Bearcats sit in fifth in the 3A-4, a half game behind Cedarville and a full game ahead of Paris. Ironically Cedarville faces Paris to wrap up its regular season on Friday and the Lady Bearcats will see Paris on Saturday in each school’s final regular season game.
But first the Lady Bearcats will also see Cossatot River on Friday. Cossatot has clinched the top seed in next week’s district tournament at Hackett and a berth in the Class 3A Region 1 tournament Booneville is hosting..
Charleston is currently second and will be the two seed with a win Friday against Hackett. Two Rivers is currently third. Two Rivers faces Danville Friday but has twice lost to Charleston and would land the three seed with a win over Danville Friday.
