Lady Bearcat Season Ends With Regional Loss

With 7:39 to play in the game a conventional three point play by Tempi Terry gave the Lady Bearcats a 39-37 lead in their Class 3A Region 1 tournament first round game Thursday night.

Lincoln then scored eight points over the next 1:34 and led 45-39 on the way to a 59-52 win that ends the Lady Bearcat season.

Though under a first year head coach in Katelyn Holub, the Lady Bearcats (14-15) reached the regional tournament for the third straight season.

Lincoln would twice build a game best 10 point lead later in the with 4:03 to play but Angie Brown, who scored 10, and Bailey Parnell shot the Lady Bearcats back to within six with 1:55 to play.

A pair of Lady Wolf baskets pushed it back to 10 with 1:10 to play.

Linley Garrett with a customary 3 and Lexi Franklin provided the final points of the night.

That gave Franklin 20 for the night. Garrett had nine in her final game on three second half 3s.

Franklin had started a game opening 7-0 run for the Lady Bearcats with a 3 and her second 3 of the quarter made it 10-2.

Lincoln, however, battled back to take a 12-10 lead through a quarter.

Franklin made it a personal run of 15 straight scored for the Lady Bearcats and it was 22-16 with 2:35 left in the half.

Terry (shown), who finished with 11, had both a basket and a free throw to give the Lady Bearcats another lead of seven but Lincoln drew within 25-20 just before the intermission.

The game was tied at 30 with 3:58 left in the third quarter and there were four lead changes with Lincoln going in front 32-31 with 2:45 to play in the quarter, before settling for a 37-36 lead to start the fourth quarter.
