If you’re looking for a silver lining in Tuesday’s baseball game it can be found in Rylen Ray.
Ray, who was all state as a sophomore as a catcher, had not been behind a dish since due to an injury in football his junior season.
\When Ray returned during the season last year he was a designated hitter, then a third baseman and he had been a second baseman and first baseman this season.
Tuesday night he got the start behind the plate and caught three innings. While there he threw out one would be base stealer.
Ray also found himself at the opposite end of the battery in the fourth inning of the game, coming on in relief to finish the lopsided loss in Morrilton.
In his first appearance on the mound since he recorded two saves as a freshman Ray struck out three and walked one.
With Thursday’s scheduled game with Lamar cancelled the Bearcats next game on the schedule is now Monday in Clarksville. The cancellation also makes Tuesday’s game with Prairie Grove the home opener.
