The Booneville Lady Bearcats cruised to wins in their first two games at the Chelsea Riley Colburn Memorial Tournament in Russellville last weekend.

The Lady Bearcats (7-3) then dropped a 1-0 game for the second time this season and finished the tournament with a loss in the loser’s bracket Saturday night.

The Lady Bearcats got out to a big lead through an inning and a half then coasted to the five inning time limit win.

Cam Parish tripled and scored on a Roni Tillery ground out in the first and the Lady Bearcats scored five times in the second.

Farrah Stringer singled in one run then followed Kylie Lunsford around the bases when Makinley Ensey hit the right field gap and ended up where she started with an inside the park home run.

Singles by Ellie Smith and Parish, along with a walk to Tillery reloaded the bases and a Lexi Franklin fly ball scored Smith for a 6-0 lead.

Ensey took over for Franklin in the circle and threw the rest of the game with the first two innings being scoreless.

Meanwhile the lead grew to 13-0. Ensey tripled and scored on a Smith single and Smith scored on a Tillery double, who then scored on a single by Peighton Montalvo, who came in on a single by Haylee Taylor in a four run fourth.

The fifth saw Parish triple in a run and Montalvo single home two for a 13-0 lead before Dardanelle used four hits, three walks and an error to push five across.

Lady Bearcats 8 Pottsville 2

As was the case in the opener the Lady Bearcats with a big lead through an inning and a half.

The first inning saw a steal of home by Tillery on the back end of a double steal Franklin started, and a Montalvo run scoring single to make it 2-0.

Pottsville got a run back in the bottom of the first against Franklin but Parish hit a two-out, three run home run and an error allowed another run to score for a 6-1 lead.

Franklin allowed only a solo home run after that and struck out eight in the five inning game.

A wild pitch plated a run during a walk drawn by Parish, and a bases loaded walk drawn by Tillery scored another to make it 8-2 in the fifth.

Atkins 1 Lady Bearcats 0

Lunsford accounted for the lone Lady Bearcat hit in the fifth inning. Pinch runner Addison Elmore moved to second on a passed ball but was stranded.

Otherwise the lone base runner was a walk drawn by Parish in the first.

Atkins got just four hits but one was a solo home run in the bottom of the fifth for what would be the six inning game’s lone run.

Woodlawn 5 Lady Bearcats 2

Woodlawn took advantage of two first inning errors and a walk and scored five times against Ensey, but the freshman would pitch out of trouble the rest of the way, getting around five walks and a couple of hits.

In the second the Lady Bearcats got on the board when Taylor walked, Ensey reached on a strikeout and Taylor came across on a passed ball during another strikeout.

A Parish home run, her third of the year, accounted for the other Lady Bearcat run in the third inning of what was a four inning game.
