Cam Parish and the Booneville Lady Bearcats broke open a scoreless game in Lavaca with a five run fourth inning on the way to a 9-3 win.
The Lady Bearcats had failed to take advantage of five walks but Kylie Lunsford (3-for-5) started the fourth with single. Farrah Stringer singled with one down but a fielder’s choice ground ball resulted in a second out in the inning.
Taylor Villarreal drew a walk to load the bases and Roni Tillery, who walked three times – Lavaca issued 10 free passes – walked to force in the first run.
That brought up Parish (shown), who has repeatedly delivered with runners in scoring position this season. She did so again with a three run double to make it 4-0.
An error allowed Peighton Montalvo to reach and Parish to score and it was 5-0.
Parish was up again with the bases loaded in the fifth and an error saw two more come home for a 7-0 lead.
Lavaca got a two-out single to score a run in the bottom of the fifth but Stringer got that run back with a single in the sixth. Mankinley Ensey followed with a double and it was 9-1.
The Lady Golden Arrows scored single runs in the sixth and again in the seventh before Franklin recorded her 15th strikeout of the day to end it.
The 15 strikeouts pushes Franklin’s career strikeout mark past 800. The school’s record holder went over 700 in the season opener.
The Lady Bearcats (8-3) will open Conference 3A-4 with Cedarville visiting today.
