Without recording a hit the Lady Bearcats scored three first inning runs and went on to a 4-1 win over Fort Smith Southside Monday evening.

Ellie Smith drew a walk, Cam Parish was hit with a pitch, and Roni Tillery was walked to fill the bases and force a pitching change.

The second Lady Maverick pitcher issued a pass to Lexi Franklin to force in a run but, with the exception of a pair of passes balls that scored runs, the new hurler would be retire the side without a hit but it was 3-0.

Southside then started the bottom of the inning with back-to-back singles with a run scoring on a sacrifice bunt that was thrown away and it was 3-1.

Franklin struck out the next three hitters in succession and would allow only three more hits the rest of the way with a pair of walks and 12 total strikeouts.

The Lady Bearcats loaded the bases with two down in the third on when Peighton Montalvo was hit with a pich, a single by Kylie Lunsford (shown at third base), and an error that allowed Makinley Ensey to reach but a fly ball ended the threat.

A two-out double and a walk put the tying runs aboard with two down in the fourth but Franklin stranded the runners with a strikeout.

Southside again had two aboard in the fifth, with no outs, but a pair of strikeouts and a fly ball ended that threat.

The Lady Bearcats would make it 4-1 in the seventh when Tillery reached on a two-out error and Franklin doubled for her second RBI.

The Lady Mavericks went quietly in the bottom of the seventh.
