Without recording a hit the Lady Bearcats scored three first inning runs and went on to a 4-1 win over Fort Smith Southside Monday evening.
Ellie Smith drew a walk, Cam Parish was hit with a pitch, and Roni Tillery was walked to fill the bases and force a pitching change.
The second Lady Maverick pitcher issued a pass to Lexi Franklin to force in a run but, with the exception of a pair of passes balls that scored runs, the new hurler would be retire the side without a hit but it was 3-0.
Southside then started the bottom of the inning with back-to-back singles with a run scoring on a sacrifice bunt that was thrown away and it was 3-1.
Franklin struck out the next three hitters in succession and would allow only three more hits the rest of the way with a pair of walks and 12 total strikeouts.
The Lady Bearcats loaded the bases with two down in the third on when Peighton Montalvo was hit with a pich, a single by Kylie Lunsford (shown at third base), and an error that allowed Makinley Ensey to reach but a fly ball ended the threat.
A two-out double and a walk put the tying runs aboard with two down in the fourth but Franklin stranded the runners with a strikeout.
Southside again had two aboard in the fifth, with no outs, but a pair of strikeouts and a fly ball ended that threat.
The Lady Bearcats would make it 4-1 in the seventh when Tillery reached on a two-out error and Franklin doubled for her second RBI.
The Lady Mavericks went quietly in the bottom of the seventh.

On Friday the Lady Bearcats took a 4-2 lead to the seventh before falling in eight, 7-5.
After Lamar took a 5-4 lead in the top of the inning, Kylie Lunsford drove in the tying runs but the Lady Warriors scored twice in the top of the eighth.
The Lady Bearcats took a 3-0 first inning lead on a two run double by Lexi Franklin and a Peighton Montalvo sacrifice fly.
One of the errors in a disastrous inning resulted in a Lady Warrior run and a single got another for Lamar in the fifth but Lexi Franklin got one of those back when she hit a home run leading off the fifth.
The Lady Bearcats are back in action today at Danville.
