Lexi Franklin struck out 14 Lincoln Lady Wolves, recorded two of her team’s three hits and scored one of their runs in a 2-0 win in a pairing of Class 3A’s best in Lincoln Friday.

One of Franklin’s 14 strikeouts ended the first inning, stranding a pair of runners aboard on walks.

She would walk just one more the rest of the way.

Franklin (shown in a previous game) singled leading off the second but was stranded, along with Farrah Stringer, who worked one of only two walks from the Lady Wolf pitcher, who struck out 15 but took the loss.

Franklin singled leading off the top of the fourth ad stole second with Peighton Montalvo at the plate. She reached third on a passed ball with Montalvo still at the plate and scored on a ground ball out by Kylie Lunsford.

It stayed 1-0 until the sixth when Roni Tillery reached on a strikeout, took second on a wild pitch, moved to third on a ground out by Franklin and scored on a passed ball to make it 2-0.

Franklin pitched around a leadoff walk in the bottom of the sixth and the Lincoln hurler got around an error in the seventh.

The 14th strike out and a pair of pop flies to Stringer closed it out for the Lady Bearcats, who moved to 18-7 going into today’s Conference 3A-4 finale against Cossatot River at the Kiersey Complex.

The Lady Bearcats have clinched the two seed in next week’s district tournament in Danville and a spot in the Class 3A Region 1 tournament in Harrison the following week.
