Bearcat junior Demari Poole won the discus in the Last Chance meet in Clarksville Monday night. The Bearcat track contingent was one of 27 schools at the meet.
Poole recorded a throw of 126’ 6” to win the event by 1’ 8” over the closest competitor and he was only six inches shy of a Class 3A state track meet clinching throw .
To reach the state track meet now he will need to win or place second in the event at the District 3A-4 meet, which is set for Thursday.
Hunter Warren placed second to two events for the Bearcats, running the 100-meter dash in 11.65 and the 200-meter dash in 23.30
Wesley Fonseca’s 5’ 10” high jump scored a third place finish for the Bearcats.
Taking fourth for the Bearcats were Dakota Stafford in the pole vault at 10’, and the 4x100-meter relay team with a time of 46.95.
Completing the Bearcats 45 points, Aiden Fox took sixth in the shot put with a toss of 41’ 6.5”.
Girls
Sophomore Harley Fitzjurls was the top individual finisher for the Lady Bearcats, also doing so in the discus, with a toss of 76’ 7”.
The 4x200-meter relay team ran a time of 2:03.49 to also take second.
Anna Ferguson took fourth in the 800-meter run at 2:45.41 and she was also fifth in the pole vault at 7’ 6”. Alanna Helms also scored a fifth place in the high jump at 4’ 2”.
Recording sixth place finishes were Christina O’Neal in the 800-meter run at 2:45.73, Lyddia Franklin in the 100-meter hurdles in 18.83, Angie Brown in the long jump at 14’ 5”, and Fitzjurls in the shot put at 26’ 8”.
Ferguson also scored in a third event, the triple jump, clearing 29’ 4” for seventh.
Rounding out the 44 points scored by the Lady Bearcats were Helms taking eighth in the 100-meter dash at 14.56, and Baylee Parnell running the 300-meter hurdles in 56.92 for eighth.
