The Booneville Lady Bearcats completed Conference 3A-4 play Monday night, wrapping up the two seed in next week’s district tournament with Lexi Franklin throwing a no-hitter in a 13-0 win over Cossatot River.
Franklin walked just two, including the game’s first batter, but struck out nine and her chase for 1,000 is at 943.
After Franklin struck out the two through four hitters in the top of the first Ellie Smith matched the Cossatot leadoff hitter by drawing a base on balls.
Smith came around to score on a single by Franklin and after a couple of walks loaded the bases and an out was recorded at the plate, Shelbie Myers (shown in a recent game) greeted a new pitcher with a three run double to make it 4-0.
The first five Lady Bearcats reached to start the second with Smith and Franklin driving in runs before Roni Tillery’s fly ball got one.
A passed ball allowed a run to score and Farrah Stringer single home two to make it 10-0 before the inning came to an end.
Kylie Lunsford singled home two and another scored on a passed ball in the third to make it 13-0.
The Lady Bearcats got a Taylor Villarreal single in the fourth but could not get her home and Franklin closed it out in the top of the fifth.
The Lady Bearcats are now off until a trip to Pea Ridge on Thursday.
