Before Jaydence “JJ” Keatts puts on a Ouachita Baptist University cheer uniform, she will get to wear her Bearcat cheer uniform one more time.
Keatts will be a member of the West All Star cheer team this week for the Arkansas High School Coaches Association's All Star games this weekend on the campus of the University of Central Arkansas in Conway later this week.
Keatts was selected to the West cheer team, which will cheer at both basketball – the girls game is at 1 p.m. on Friday followed by the boys at 3 p.m. – and the football game, which is set for 6 p.m. Saturday.
The basketball game will not be totally foreign, though cheering for girls might be somewhat different. That is because Keatts played basketball herself she was typically in that uniform on game nights.
The football game will allow her to cheer on classmate Matt O’Bar a final time as he will be representing the Bearcats in that game.
Keatts was a Cheer Cat for three years and wound up being the only senior on the squad this past season.
Besides cheer and basketball, Keatts also ran cross country as a senior.
She is the daughter of Michael and Jennifer Keatts. On April 1 she signed with OBU picking the Arkadelphia school over its Battle of the Ravine opposition, and Hendrix.
