RITCHIE SHOOTS A 38, BEARCATS WIN FIRST MATCH

With Landen Ritchie firing a match co-leading 38, the Booneville Bearcat golf team opened the 2024 season with a match win in Russellville.

Ritchie’s 38 – which was matched by a Charleston golfer – led the Bearcats to a team total of 122, which was seven shots better than Charleston and Dover, both conference foes.

The Bearcat team score was achieved with Bryce Eaves shooting a 41 and Jace Washburn a 43. Just one shot back Washburn, Parker Smith was the fourth Bearcat on the course.

The Lady Bearcat team was led by Emma Ferguson’s field leading 53, with Ferguson doing so in her first event as a Lady Bearcat.

Along with a 54 by Baylee Parnell and a 56 by Anna Ferguson the Lady Bearcats compiled a 163 to win the event as Charleston and Dover both had only two players on the course.

Playing in her first event as a Lady Bearcat as well, Braylee Carolan was also on the Russellville Country Club links.

The Bearcats and Lady Bearcats will next play at Waldron on Wednesday.
