After the safety made it 14-12 Purple forced the Gold into a three and out and answered with the go-ahead score.
Gold had scored on the game’s opening possession on a run by Conner Droemer but Purple pushed Poole into the end zone on a fourth-and-goal to tie it.
The big play in the drive was a completion from Jace Washburn to Devon Ritchie.
Poole’s second score answered a scoring run by Hunter Warren and the game was tied at the half.
On the way to the game winner, Purple got a long run from Levi McMaster.
Purple had a chance to put the game away after a fumble recovery after taking the lead but Gold was able to hold on downs.
Gold got a long completion from Rhett Nietert to Noah Harrel but did not have time for a Hail Mary attempt.
The Bearcats will all be on the same side tomorrow night when they scrimmage Dardanelle in an Arkansas Activities Association benefit game. The junior high game starts at 6 with the senior high to follow.
