TENNIS CATS/LADY CATS WIN 9 OF 13 MATCHES

The Bearcat and Lady Bearcat tennis teams opened their 2024 season Tuesday by winning nine of 13 matches in Dardanelle.

The Lady Bearcats won all there of their singles matches and four of five doubles matches.

In doubles play it was the sisters of Emma and Anna Ferguson dominating. The siblings won a set together 6-1 and Emma Ferguson won another set 6-0 with Angie Brown as a partner, while Anna Ferguson partnered with Harley Krigbaum for another 6-0 win.

In the closest girls match of the day, Krigbaum had also been paired with Raelyn Franklin for a 6-5 set win.

Brown (shown), Mary Haynes, and Joslin Combs each won their single sets with by a service break at 6-4.

In boys play Hunter Pollard and Whit Kendall also claimed a win in a 6-5 set and Kendall paired with Taylor Shaver for a 6-1 win.

Also competing in doubles for the boys were Gabe Draper and Jaxon Harger and for the girls Marlena Loftin and Zoie Jones also played a doubles set, narrowly falling 6-4.

Dardanelle took both boys singles matches against Shaver and Aiden Carter.

The tennis teams are scheduled to travel to Mulberry on Thursday.
