Bearcat cross country became the fifth program to start its season this fall with all levels competing in a 1.5-mile run in Magazine.
Three senior high athletes picked up medals in their first runs. Sophomore Abi Schlup ran fifth in the senior girls run.
In the senior boys race it was Taylor Shaver running ninth and Nathan Hicks (shown) taking 16th.
Also running for the boys, who had a full team score contingent, was Cooper Lentz, Brendan Hubble, Aayden Hill and Rissen Baugh.
Zoie Jones and Cora Nichols were the other entrants for the Lady Bearcats.
For the junior boys only Jayden Walker and Leo Vasquez were in uniform for the opener.
The junior girls were led by Aleena Guajardo. Also running for the Lady Bearcats were Laken Freeman, Hadley Stewart, Bryleigh Hubble and Brooklyn Adair.
