The Bearcat volleyball team won a second straight road game Tuesday night taking down Lamar in four sets 25-9, 25-21, 23-25, 25-15.

Presley Walker (shown) got the Bearcats off to a fast start in the first set registering a kill to break the ice and two more to make it 3-1.

Those came with Emily Wooldridge serving and she followed with an ace and one by Walker in front on a Shelbie Myers kill made it 7-3.

Lyddia Franklin had a kill and a returned another ball that was not returned on the way to a 13-6 lead and Ellie Smith registered a kill to make it 15-7.

At 16-8 Wooldridge started serving again and would deliver another ace for an 18-8 lead before service was broke but a kill by Kaylee Ray made it a double digit lead again at 19-9.

That started a set clinching 7-0 run that included three aces by Walker.

The second set started with Farrah Stringer serving up a 2-0 lead but the set would be tied at 3 until a Smith kill and another Wooldridge ace.

A Walker dig led to a point and a Smith ace had the Bearcats up 9-5 but Lamar responded with four straight to tie the set before a Vanessa O’Neal kill.

However, the set would be tied again at 10, 11, and 12 before Lamar opened a 15-12 lead.

A Franklin smash broke the run and started one by the Bearcats as with Wooldridge on the service line momentum swung to the Bearcats to an 18-15 lead prompting a time out.

Wooldridge sent an ace out of the time out and it was 20-15 before Lamar regained serve.

After a Bearcat time out an O’Neal kill and a Ray ace ended the set at 25-21.

The third set saw Lamar open a 7-1 lead before the Bearcats went to the bench to regroup and, with Wooldridge serving, would actually run out to a 10-7 lead on a run capped by a Ray kill.

With the sweep in sight the Bearcats continued to lead by as many as five points with aces from Walker and Ray until a Lamar surge tiee it at 20 and a
resulted in a time out.

A break later it was 22-20 and eventually 23-21 but Lamar broke serve tied it on an ace, then scored the next two to force a fourth set.

Stringer started the fourth set with an ace and the Bearcats never trailed.

With Wooldridge on the service line the lead grew to 6-1 and with Smith serving and ace it was 9-3.

Lamar got within 9-6 but a dig by Lilly Down led to a point and started a series in which she had another dig on the way to a point and two aces while serving through a 16-7 lead.

When Downs and Rylee Haller collided on a dig effort Lamar was able to get within 17-13 but a Cam Parish dig kept a point alive to eventually make it 18-13 and send Wooldridge to serve.

She stayed there through a Walker kill that made it 20-13 and necessitated a Lamar time out.

An ace by Smith got it to 23-15 and a point by Myers brought on set and match point.
