David Bik put on a first half show for the Seventh Grade Bearcats in their home opener against Paris Thursday.
Bik ran four times for 57 yards with a pair of touchdowns, had six tackles, and an interception as the Bearcats (2-1) opened a 22-0 lead on the way to a 28-6 win.
Bik’s first touchdown came on his first carry and covered 20 yards to cap a 70-yard drive that included a run by Jordan Day that covered half of it.
Hank Loftin also had four carries on the opening drive and ran for a two-point conversion and an 8-0 lead.
Paris drove to the Bearcat 25-yard line on their first possession but Colt Whitehouse recovered a fumble to end the threat.
Bik then finished the second Bearcat drive with a 29-yard scoring run. In a near carbon copy of the first drive that saw Loftin log three carries and Day have a 17-yard run.
Bik's interception appeared to end the ensuing possession but a double turnover on the play gave Paris one more chance, but Day made a stop on the final play of the half to keep it 14-0.
Maverick Greene (shown on offense) had a big second half. He made a fourth down stop to take the ball away from the Eagles with 4:56 to play in the third quarter, and ran 24 yards for a fourth quarter touchdown that made it 28-0.
In between those plays, Loftin broke free for a 34-yard touchdown and Cain Catlett ran for the conversion and a 22-0 lead.
Loftin was the leading rusher with 74 yards on nine carries. Bik was the leading defender with eight tackles while Braxton Bearden and Aiden Akers both made four stops.
The Bearcats will open Conference 3A-1 play at 5:30 next Thursday against Lavaca at Bearcat Stadium.
