LADY BEARCAT GOLFERS EARN STATE BERTH

The Lady Bearcat golf team earned their way into the Class 3A state tournament with a runner-up team finish in the District 3A-4 tournament in Russellville Tuesday.

Though scores were fairly close Anna Ferguson shot the lowest round of the day for the Lady Bearcats with a 121. Emma Ferguson shot a 125 and Baylee Parnell a 128 to complete the team 374 score in the 18-hole event.

The Lady Bearcats were just four shots back of tournament winning Atkins.

Both four player teams – Kaci DeWitt was the fourth Lady Bearcat on the course – advance to the September 30 state tournament to be hosted by Cooper’s Hawk in Melbourne.

In the boys division it was Bryce Eaves with the lowest Bearcat round at 88. Jace Washburn shot a 92 and Landen Ritchie a 93 for a team score of 273 to finish fourth.

Parker Smith was the fourth Bearcat on the Russellville Country Club course.
