With a 16th straight victory Friday night, the current Bearcat winning streak has tied the second longest in school history.
The 2013 Bearcats were 15-0 in 2013 and the 2014 team won its season opener before seeing the streak end.
The school record is 23 set by the 2000 and 2001 teams. The 2000 title team finished the year with 10 straight wins and the 2001 team was 13-0 going into the championship game against Warren.
The current streak is one of 16 to have reached at least 11 games.
Last Friday’s win also continued another streak of now 44 straight years the Bearcats have won no less than four games. All but two of those there were no less than six wins.

TODAY IN BEARCAT FOOTBALL HISTORY: The Bearcats are 11-3 in games documented to have been played on October 4. On October 4, 1935 the Bearcats beat Greenwood 27-0 but it was defense that got it done with a school record three interception returns for touchdowns. Hoyt Houston had two of them and Dale Dempsey had the other one. The record has been matched once. There have also been plenty of kickoff return touchdowns on the date. Most recently Chance Broussard returned a kickoff 87 yards for a touchdown in a 42-0 win over West Fork in 2019. In 2013 Matt Berry returned the opening kickoff 97 yards for a touchdown and Cody Harrel threw for 132 yards in a 48-20 win over Subiaco. In 1996 with Dardanelle it town it was Davin Hicks going 77 yards out of the starburst for a touchdown to start the second half of a 28-12 win.
NOTES: The only time the Bearcats have ever played in Hackett the result was the 75-46 scoring fest two years ago. Although the Bearcats scoring output has increased with each game played this year – from 14 to 49 – history is unlikely to repeat itself as the Bearcats have allowed 33 points all season. Friday’s shutout was the 81st at Bearcat Stadium. It is the second time Cedarville has been blanked at the Home of Champions, making the Pirates one of 14 to have been shut out multiple times. There have been 29 different programs shut out at Bearcat Stadium. It was the first shutout at the stadium since a 35-0 win over Mansfield on October 14, 2022. Oliver Loaeza is 14 of 16 on point after kicks, hitting the last 12 in a row. With three last week, the Bearcat defense has recorded 10 sacks on the season. Cutler Haller picked off a pass Aiden Fox deflected for the first interception of the season. Loaeza also picked off a pass in the second half against the Pirates.
THE 3A-1: Two home teams won league openers last week as the Bearcats beat Cedarville 49-0 and Mansfield topped Hackett 36-6. Winning on the road were Charleston over West Fork 36-14, and Lavaca in a shootout at Greenland 49-42.
Besides the Bearcats at Hackett, this week’s schedule features Mansfield at Charleston, West Fork at Lavaca, and Greenland at Cedarville.
