SCHULP AND JUNIOR BOYS ARE DISTRICT CROSS COUNTRY RUNNERS-UP

Abi Schlup finished second in the District 3A-4 cross country meet for the second straight year and the Junior High Bearcats finished as runner-up as a team during the meet hosted yesterday around the school campus and Raney Park.

Besides Schlup’s second place medal, the Lady Bearcats also got a medal performance from Cora Nichols in sixth.

Remaining team members Zoie Jones was 16th and Kaylee King, a freshman was running her second race of the day for a 4.6 mile total, was 20th, but without five runners the Lady Bearcats were ineligible for a team score.

For the junior boys it was Parker Sing with the top placement, running sixth, with Jaydon Walker one spot back in seventh, and Leo Vasquez earning a medal for 10th.

Completing the team score of 59 – Subiaco won it with a 31 – were Cam Montalvo with 16 points and Breckyn Denton 20. Levi Porter also completed the race for the Junior High Bearcats.

For the senior high Bearcats it was Taylor Shaver leading the way in 14th with Cooper Lentz just two spots back.

Aayden Hill, Breandan Hubble, and Barrett Coker finished in near succession 19-22 to earn the Bearcats the third place team in the standings.

Starting the day the junior girls who were fourth as a team.

King, in her first race, led the way in 13th with Aleena Guajardo, Daniela Vazquez, Bryleigh Hubble, and Brooklyn Adair all finishing within a pack of six runners from 20-25.

Winning the junior girls meet was Cedraville with Mansfield second. Winning the senior girls plaque was Paris with Mansfield second. Subiaco completed the male sweep with a senior boys title with Lamar second.

Senior high teams are scheduled to make a trip to Oaklawn Park in Hot Springs for the state cross country meet on Thursday with the girls running at 10:30 and the boys at 11:15 a.m.
