Friday’s senior night game sets up what is expected to determine the second seed for Conference 3A-1 for the Class 3A state playoffs that begin on November 15.

Both the two and three seeds open the playoffs at home, but the two seed has an opportunity for two first round games, and the three seed would likely have a trip across the state for the second round with a first round win.

Besides looking to stay on track for the two seed, the Bearcats will be looking to add Charleston to the list of schools to have lost to a Booneville team 50 times – Paris was the most recent member of the club, arriving on the list when the Bearcats won in Paris on September 13.

• Mascots: Booneville Bearcats; Charleston Tigers
• When: 7 PM, November 1, at Doug Scheel Field at Bearcat Stadium
• Series: Booneville leads 49-14-2 (.769)
• Streak: Booneville has won last 1
• Last Meeting: Booneville 25 Charleston 15 on October 20, 2023
• First Meeting: Charleston 30 Booneville 0 on October 15, 1920
• Conference Affiliations: Both are 3A-1

TODAY IN BEARCAT FOOTBALL HISTORY: The Bearcats are 10-3 all time in games documented to have been played on November 1. In 2002 in Greenland the Bearcats and Pirates combined for 923 offensive yards with the Bearcats accumulating 554 of them while winning 56-24. The Bearcats of 1996 gained 519 yards against Waldron in a 47-20 win on November 1 with Trent Goff running 65 yards on one play and Davin Hicks totaling 205 yards on the ground. In 2013 the Bearcats blitzed Pottsville 35-7 on November 1, recording six sacks, while Cody Harrel ran 70 yards on one play and finishing with 179 yards rushing. The November 1, 1968 game included a 55-yard fumble return by John Harris in a 19-12 win over Clarksville.

NOTES: Meeting for the 66th time moves the series with Charleston into a tie for the fifth most faced opponent for Booneville, but since the series dates back to the second game in program history it is actually the longest running by any school other than Magazine, which has not been on a Booneville schedule since 1942. With a career high rushing night in Mansfield Hunter Warren has taken over the season lead in rushing. With two touchdown passes Friday Jace Washburn has 13 in his career, which ties him for eighth all time by a Bearcat. Losing the turnover margin 2-1 last week means the Bearcats are even in turnovers on the season with nine takeaways and nine giveaways – six fumbles and three interceptions but are actually at a deficit with a possession loss on an onside kick. Seth Wilson had his third 16-tackle game of the season last week, which included his fifth sack of the season. Cutler Haller also had 15 stops.

THE 3A-1: Besides the Bearcat game last week, Charleston drilled Cedarville 36-7, West Fork got its first conference win over Greenland 28-20, and Lavaca kept Hackett winless with a 28-22 win.

While the Bearcats are hosting Charleston this week, Lavaca will be at Cedarville, West Fork will be at Hackett, and Mansfield will be at Greenland.

THEME: The pep rally theme is tie dye.
