The Booneville Lady Bearcats used a 13-0 run over 5:30 of the second half and went on to collect a 45-36 road win at Hackett Friday night.

On Saturday the Lady Bearcats scored the first six points of the game but it was a 13-0 first half run by Acorn that allowed the Lady Tigers to go on to a 61-43 win on the final day of the 11th Bearcat Classic.

In Hackett the game was tied at 9-9 on a 3 by Haylee Taylor with 1:37 to play in the first quarter and again at 22-22 when Hackett scored a conventional three-point play with 8.2 seconds to go in the half.

The lead changed hands at 26-25 on an Angie Brown basket with 5:47 to play in the third quarter and a Baylee Parnell basket 25 seconds later made it a 3-point lead.

Hackett answered that with a 3 to tie it with 4:54 to go in the quarter. But the Lady Hornets would not score again until the 7:22 mark of the final quarter.

In the meantime Brown (shown in an earlier game) was handing out five of her 12 assists in the game – reaching double digits in assists for the second time this season.

Brown earned an assist on a 3 by Taylor that gave the Lady Bearcats the lead and assisted a second Taylor 3 in the quarter, which was sandwiched between two assists to Parnell, the second of which made it a double digit lead at 38-28.

A Brown to Raelynn Franklin play pushed it to 40-28 and a free throw by Taylor completed the 13 point run, as Hackett did not score until a pair of free throws with 7:22 to go.

Hackett then crept within 41-34 with 2:48 to play before single free throws by Brown and Makinley Ensley and another assist from Brown to Parnell made it 45-34 with 40 seconds remaining.

Parnell led the Lady Bearcats with 14 points and eight rebounds and Taylor scored 13 points. Tempi Terry scored all eight of her points in the first half, when she also had six of her seven rebounds.

On Saturday Brown, Parnell, and Franklin staked the Lady Bearcats to a 6-0 lead and Acorn took a time out.

The Lady Tigers would go up 12-8 by the 2:58 mark of the quarter and would not trail again.

A three by Ensey would cut the Lady Bearcat deficit to 12-11 but it was 17-11 by the end of the quarter and 25-11 with 5:29 left in the first half.

The Acorn lead would reach 15 with 3:43 left in the half but the Lady Bearcats would whittle it back to eight at 33-25 with an 8-2 run to close the half.

The Lady Bearcats got it to eight twice more in the third quarter but Acorn extended a 38-30 edge to one of 46-30 with 1:58 left in the quarter and remained comfortably in front the rest of the way.

Brown and Taylor both scored 11 to lead the Lady Bearcats. Franklin led with six rebounds.

In their only action this week the Lady Bearcats will face Cedarville at Bearcat Gymnasium in their Conference 3A-1 opener on Tuesday. There is no JV game and tipoff is at 6 p.m.
