Despite it coming in losses to Cedarville and Mansfield, Bearcat sophomore Tayden Washburn made his presence well known over a span of just over 24 hours.
With Cedarville leading 30-20 at the half, Tayden Washburn (shown) scored the first 4 points of the second half and it was a 6-point deficit.
To that point Tayden Washburn had not scored. He would score again in the third quarter to cut a Cedarville lead to 36-27, and matching his season total in scoring.
Tayden Washburn also scored the first 4 Bearcat points of the final quarter and he would go on to score 10 in the quarter, giving him 16 on the night, but the Bearcats would fall to the Pirates 55-45 on Cedarville’s homecoming.
When it wasn’t the sophomore Washburn scoring in the final quarter it was often his older brother, Jace, The senior scored 6 fourth quarter points match his brother with 16 points in the game, to go along with 10 rebounds.
Jace Washburn and Noah Harrel had both scored 9 first half points. Harrel finished with 10 as the teams combined to have seven players score at least 10.
In a makeup game with Mansfield on Saturday the Bearcats scored the final 7 points of the first half to take a 32-28 lead.
Mansfield scored the first 6 of the second half to retake the lead before 6 by the Bearcats put them back in front, where they would stay until Mansfield scored the final 9 of the game to pull out a 50-48 win.
The difference on the scoreboard was never more than the 7 it was when the Bearcats led 48-41 after a Tayden Washburn basket giving him 10 points, and a double-digit scoring game on consecutive nights.
A starter Saturday night, Tayden Washburn also had 7 rebounds in the game to lead the Bearcats.
Wesley Fonseca was also a double-digit scorer for the Bearcats with 10 and Harrel led the way with 11.
The Bearcats will next play at Subiaco on Tuesday night. A JV game will start the evening at 4:30 followed by a junior high game.
