For more than seven minutes of the third quarter in Cedarville Friday night, the Booneville Lady Bearcats trailed by between 8 and 13 points.

It was Tempi Terry who kept the Lady Bearcats within striking distance throughout the third quarter.

That was key as they were about to hold Cedarville to 5 fourth quarter points and pull out a 48-46 win to spoil homecoming night for the Lady Pirates.

Down 31-20 it was Terry who would score her team’s next 10 points to keep them in it. She did that in a span of just 2:25 of game clock but it was still 39-30.

Terry had 19 points and 8 rebounds on the night.

The deficit was 11 at 41-30 with 46 second to go in the third quarter but the Lady Bearcats got a pair of free throws from Haylee Taylor and a basket from Angie Brown to cut it to 41-34 going to the final quarter.

A 3 by Taylor started the fourth quarter scoring – the sophomore finished with 13 and it was 41-37.

The Lady Bearcats made just one of six free throws from the 6:08 to 4:30 marks of the final quarter and it appeared the chance to steal the game was slipping away.

Taylor’s second 3 of the quarter cut it to 43-41 and when Baylee Parnell scored on an assist from Taylor the game was tied for the first time with 2:43 remaining in the game.

After Cedarville retook the lead it was Parnell who again tied it at 45 with 1:23 to play.

With 43 seconds remaining Parnell had the ball dislodged in the lane and it went directly to Raelynn Franklin. Franklin then gave the Lady Bearcats their first lead of the night at 47-45.

A free throw with 18.1 seconds left got Cedarville within one and with 10.1 seconds to go Brown hit a free throw to make it 48-46.

A 3 point bid by the Lady Pirates to win it was off the mark.

Saturday

Though the final was 48-29, for more than a quarter and a half the Lady Bearcats were more than up to the task of taking on Mansfield Saturday.

Brown scored 7 first quarter points, the last 2 coming just before the buzzer and the Lady Bearcats led 11-5.

Terry's third basket of the night gave the lady Bearcats a 13-11 lead with 4:54 to go in the first half and with 2:18 to play a free throw by Taylor cut a Mansfield lead to 17-14.

The Lady Tigers, however, would score the next 12 points, 5 of which came before halftime, and it was 29-14 with 6:48 left in the third quarter.

A 3 by Taylor finally ended the drought but Mansfield would build as much as a 20-point lead before the quarter ended.

Brown led the Lady Bearcats with 13 points, Terry had 9, and Taylor 7, but were the only Lady Bearcats to score.

The Lady Bearcats are now idle until Friday when they will face Cossatot River on Senior Night.
